Start with the decision you need to make

A packing configuration connects the product you need to move with the container and arrangement you plan to use. The useful result is a layout your team can review, with quantities that can carry into materials and cost planning.

Prepare the inputs

In Optipacker, start with part dimensions or an STL model. Review the imported dimensions and units, then add the quantity, weight and material information relevant to the project. Use the container's internal dimensions for the available packing space. Its external dimensions matter when assessing the wider handling and transport arrangement.

Choose how the parts will be packed

Regular arrangements, layers and bulk estimates answer different questions. A part that needs a defined handling orientation needs different settings from an item that can rotate freely. Set gaps and wall clearances to reflect the intended packaging method.

Calculate and review the arrangement first. You can then generate an insert from those part positions and inspect its cavities, material and fit with the container.

Read the result on the right basis

Packed quantity tells you how many items fit. Volume utilization tells you how much internal container volume those products occupy. Review both alongside the 3D arrangement. A full requested quantity can still leave substantial empty space.

Inspect the positions, orientations and remaining space before saving the configuration. Then use its bill of materials and quantities to develop the purchasing and investment model.
